JOHN MELLENCAMP JENA VIDEO AND LYRICS-Jena 6

Rocker John Mellencamp has written a song entitled Jena, which was inspired by the Jena 6 case. John says that he wrote this song not in "condemnation" of the people of Jena,,but in condemnation of racism.
Here are some of the lyrics:

An all white jury hides the executioner's face
See how we are, me and you?
Everyone here needs to know their place
Let's keep this blackbird hidden in the flue

Oh oh oh Jena
Oh oh oh Jena
Oh oh oh Jena
Take your nooses down

So what becomes of boys that cannot think straight
Particularly those with paper bag skin
Yes sir, no sir we'll wipe that smile right off your face
We've got our rules here and you must fit in

MYCHAL BELL RELEASED ON BAIL-Jena 6

We do not condone violence of any kind, but we ask that people be given a fair and even chance at the bar of justice.Tonight, Mychal can go home, but Mychal is not out of the juvenile process. He goes home because a lot of people left their home and stood up for him.Let America know -- we are not fighting for the right to fight in school. We're not fighting for the right for kids to beat each other. We're fighting to say that there must be one level of justice for everybody. And you cannot have adult attempted murder for some, and a fine for others, and call that equal protection under the law. Two wrongs don't make one civil right.------Reverend Al Sharpton

Last week Friday,Mychal Bell of theJena 6 was released on a $45,000 bail. The 17-year-old boy who had spent nearly ten months in jail walked out of LaSalle Courthouse last week to find a number of Jena 6 supporters. Mychal still faces trial as a juvenile, and not as an adult as a judge previously sought, for a fight that took place on the grounds of Jena High School in Louisiana.

What is your take on this news? Should Mychal have been freed?

DID YOU SUPPORT THE JENA 6?-Jena 6

So did you support the Jena 6? Did you wear black? As many of you may already know, yesterday many leaders and citizens rallied in Jena,Louisiana. Most of the rally was covered by CNN so head to CNN to find out more about what happened yesterday. Moving on....

Many people have been very moved by theJena 6 Story and every one has something to say on the subject of the these six boys. In the next week, I will be featuring some readers' comments that i found interesting from theJena 6 Story unfolded post.

Hanging nooses is very sick and ignorant. Most people would consider this a threat, and I believe harassment like this should be punished, as well as beating someone into unconscousness. I don't believe jail is the answer. I don't have the answer. Racism will always be around unless we educate our children from the beginning that we are all human, and God created us equal. That is the way it should be, but I am sad to say I probably won't see complete harmony with black and white in my lifetime. All I can do is set an example while I am on this earth.
Peace to all

Saucy Says...
I agree anonymous, racism will always exist. As long as there are different shades of colors, there will always be an opinion out there of what people believe is the superior color. It is human nature for a person to always choose. We choose to have a red car instead of a black one;we choose to own a white shoe instead of a black one. Nevertheless,i think that the general consensus is that all cars are created equal, although one brand may be more efficient than the other. I do not at all mean to compare human beings to cars, but if we all realize that we are all created alike, except for our individual differences, then we could begin to create a better world for ourselves. It is in this acceptance that all men are created equal that we can begin to make a change. More importantly, we must educate our kids, for it is ignorance that problems abound.Let us all set an example for our kids.

Live-for we only have on life to live
Love-For without which there is nothing
Eat Chocolates-Because life can be a little bitter at times
Live,Love,and eat Chocolates!

JENA SIX UPDATE:MYCHAL BELL's CONVICTION OVERTURNED-Jena 6

The felony conviction for Mychal Bell has been overturned. If you will remember,Mychal Bell is one of six young boys accused of beating a white student in the town of Jena 6.Judges in the case have recently ruled that Mychal should never have been tried as an adult.Mychal Bell, now 17, will now be tried as a juvenile. Bell who has been in jail since December of 2006 was the first of six young men who was convicted for a school yard fight.
The crisis is not over yet. This ruling still leaves in suspension what's going to happen to the other five. But the Jena 6 and their supporters are now on the offensive. So long as these kids were in the dark without representation, they were all going up the river. When the lights came on and the public pressure flooded in, it began to change everything.-Reverend Jesse Jackson

Jesse Jackson along with many other civil rights leaders planned on protesting this coming September 20Th,the day Mychal Bell was scheduled to be sentenced for up to 22 years. Although Bell's sentencing has been reversed, these civil rights leaders,as well as other denizens, plan on still rallying. No Justice,No Peace.

So you still don't know who the JENA 6 are?-Jena 6

So you still don't know the Jena 6? Well, wait no more. Maybe you don't like to read much(lol), so i have found two videos that will tell you exactly who the Jena 6 are:

IT'S BLACK,IT'S WHITE!-Jena 6

I'm not going to spend my time being color-L.T.B. rap on "Black or White"

So why are we spending our time being a color? The jena 6 trial reminded me of this Michael Jackson classic. Check it out. Maybe we can all stop spending time being a color and realize that there are other more pending problems out there ie., the war,Cancer,et cetra.

JENA 6 STORY UNFOLDED

It all started with this tree in Jena,Louisiana, a town of about 4,000 residents,85%of whom are white. A student asked if he could sit under the tree for "Whites Only." The African-American student was then told by school administrators that he could sit wherever he chooses to sit. So the student sat.

The next day students arrived to see three nooses hung on the tree for "Whites Only." The message was clear to the African American students:you do not sit under a tree "marked" for "Whites Only." The boys who hung the nooses on the tree were suspended for a few days, yes a few days. School administrators didn't feel it imperative to expel the young white males; the superintendent felt that the incident was merely a harmless prank. The black students, however, did not take the "prank" so lightly;they staged a sit-in underneath the now infamous tree. For the remaining part of September and October, tension rose between the blacks and whites. Fights broke out and part of the school was lit on fire.

On Decmber 3rd 2006,another incident of racial tension occurred at this gas station pictured above. An argument ensued between one of the boys of the Jena 6 and a young unidentified male. A brawl followed in which the young white boy drew a rifle gun at Bailey,a Jena 6 male, and a couple of his other friends. The three teenagers were able to fight off the young man and were able to take the gun away.Bailey, the the black male, ran away with the gun and was later charged with theft of a firearm,second-degree robbery, and disturbing the peace.

Then it happened. On December 4th,yet another fight broke out between a black and white student. Justin Barker, who had been racially taunting some black students, was beaten unconscious. Justin, the alleged victim in question, was rushed to the hospital in which he was discharged after two hours of observation. This now historical fight resulted in the apprehending of six males. So it became that these six black men would be known as the Jena 6. The Jena 6 are 17-year-old Robert Bailey Junior whose bail was set at $138,000; 17-year-old Theo Shaw - bail $130,000; 18-year-old Carwin Jones--bail $100,000; 17-year-old Bryant Purvis--bail $70,000; 16 year old Mychal Bell, a sophomore in high school who was charged as an adult and for whom bail was set at $90,000; and an unidentified minor.

No justice,No peace. Will justice prevail? To date Mychal Bell has been found guilty of all charges and is awaiting sentencing on September 20th.Mychal Bell is expected to spend 22 years in jail for an incident that ordinarily would have gotten a high schooler suspended for two weeks tops. The other five are awaiting trial. So where is the Jusitice? No Justice,no peace says these protesters.

FREE THE JENA 6 SO THAT JUSTICE CAN IN FACT PREVAIL IN AN UNJUST WORLD.

NO JUSTICE,NO PEACE-Jena 6

Take a look at the pictures below. They may have no meaning to you right now,but they will soon. A tree,a gas station, and some agitated protesters. Can you figure it out? Hint:During the Jim Crow Era, a sign would have read "WHITES ONLY."

When asked what should young people do to combat racism,Frederick Douglass replied:"Agitate,Agitate,Agitate! Thanks goes out to "Z" for opening my eyes to that quote.

As you all know, i have taken this day to blog about the Jena 6 trial and well today happens to be Saucy's Thursday Throwdown. Today's throwdown is inspired by the Jena 6 trial. Take a look below and tell me which picture "agitates" you the most. Which picture throws it down?

Are you agitated yet? Then do something.

DAY OF BLOGGING FOR JUSTICE-

The Afrosphere Jena 6 Coalition “ask that the mainstream traditional media step forward and discharge their duty to provide coverage of this vitally important event to their viewers and readers and act as “the fourth institution" of governmental "checks and balance” that constitutional framers intended the press to be.” To further this effort the Afrosphere Jena 6 Coalition will embark on a ‘Day of Blogging for Justice’ on Thursday August 30th----------AFROSPHERE

So it then stands that today will be a day of Blogging for Justice, and as part of my contribution to society,i will mostly blog about the JENA 6 atrocity today as well as in the impending future. I hope that you will take the time to read and learn about who the JENA 6 are.
