The Pickled Hutch is Back!!

You may have noticed it's been a while since I posted about The Pickled Hutch. You might remember that Lisa closed up shop to start a new venture for a while, but Lisa has re-opened The Pickled Hutch! And she even re-opened in her old Pacifica location. The shop has a whole new look, though.  Everything is airy and bright and filled with the colors of the sea and sunset--perfect for its beachside location--cool shades of blue, whites, yellows, reds, pinks. You can practically feel the sun on your face and the breeze in your hair when you're in there. And of course, everything is time-worn and loved, just like we like them, right? Here's a peek of the NEW Pickled Hutch. Lisa, I'm so excited for you!! Click here to see a lot more pictures of The Pickled Hutch in its previous location.
PS. That's not my big news, by the way, though it is big news.  Mine is coming soon! Maybe the day it happens--eek!

Little Doll Lois, Mom's Pillow and News

Isn't she adorable! I got her for $4 at the Alemany Flea Market this weekend. Her name is Lois (named after you know who) and she looks perfect in her room. Also, I made the pillow you see below for my mom to go in the blue and white guest bedroom. She gave me this tea towel and I know how much she loved it, so I wanted to make it into something for her. It think it would be fun to make another pillow with this fabric or this one to match the blue one since the guest bedroom also has splashes of red. This was my first sewing experience with any kind of fringe. It was fun and easier than I thought it would be to make it. I'm also going to make a pillow for Lois with her name on it later this week.

In other news, I'm working on a vintage etsy shop to sell all kinds of vintage things with my mom--jewelry, vintage fabric and notions, books, etc. So I'll let you know when it's up. Also, Lisa has decided to close The Pickled Hutch in Pacifica and join a friend in a new venture at her shop, Willa Home, in Burlingame. I know this will be a positive experience for Lisa. Wish her luck over at her blog, or better yet, stop into the shop and whish her luck in person while you take advantage of the amazing sale she's having!

Holiday Open House at The Pickled Hutch

Join Lisa and friends tomorrow night, Friday the 21st from 5-8PM, for some holiday fun at The Pickled Hutch. She's hosting her annual holiday open house along with three other antique stores on Palmetto Avenue in Pacifica. As usual she has a great selection of antique and vintage merchandise, and it wouldn't be a holiday party without a great selection of holiday decorations and merchandise. This year she'll also have a special treat for the little ones. And Santa will make an appearance as well! The participating shops are The Pickled Hutch, Coastside Consignments, Debbie's Attic, and Vintage Cove. Unfortunately I don't have any recent pictures of the Hutch because I've been busy being preggers and now with baby, and I haven't taken the time to get over there to take pictures, but here are a few favorite pictures from past Pickled Hutch visits. See you there!

New Chair to Come

Yesterday Andrew and I bought a wonderful upholstered chair for our bedroom from Coastside Consignments, which is next door to The Pickled Hutch. I've had my eye on it for a while, but wasn't sure if the color would work in our room. The color is actually perfect, and I love the chair. It goes great with my new splashes of pink. I'll post a picture of the chair tomorrow (once I the light is better to get a good picture). In the meantime, here's some pink for your fun in the sun weekend!

Pickled Hutch Outing

Dripping jewels that Lisa's friend Debby makes are one of the many new things you'll find at The Pickled Hutch. It's been a few weeks since I've been in, and Lisa has so many new things! Rather than post pictures of 3 picks, here are some pictures of random things I just liked. And lastly, a picture of a few things I bought. One thing I bought isn't shown here because I can't fit it in our car, so I will tell you what it is and post a picture when I get it home. Good thing for me these things I bought are small or going on the wall, otherwise I'd have to get rid of some other things to make room.

How cute is this pint-sized chair and table? Ah, if I only had more room in the baby room.

Old frames. Good for framing. Good alone.

Old books.

Great desk chair that I'd like to have instead of our $10 dollar thrift treasure that needs repair.

What I came home with! A still-life oil painting of veggies, a wrought iron sconce, another little oil painting, the picture of the woman diving that I like so much, and a set of 6 glasses (I just have 4 in the picture).
Won't these be perfect for a Lillet or a little martini? Cocktails anyone? Well, none for me for a while longer.

Pickled Hutch Picks

I have a thing for images of women diving. I'm not sure why that is, really, except that they just look strong and elegant, and the idea of diving from so high off a little board or a patch of land is exciting to me (that is being someone who used to back down the ladder of the high dive when I was little). I used to keep a picture of a woman diving off a cliff side in my cube at my old 9 to 5 job. I can't tell you how many times I looked at her, wishing I were her diving and not me sitting in my cube. I think it would be fun to collect images of women diving and hang the framed collection in a bathroom. I could start my collection with this one above from the Pickled Hutch where Lisa has a great selection of old photos. Another great idea for your old photos (or a mix of yours and found photos) is this great idea from SFgirlbybay.

The prices vary, but are about $1-4 each.

Silver sugar, which I'd use as a vase or cotton ball holder in the bathroom. $9

Statue of 3 women with one missing a head, which just gives her more character! $95

Pickled Hutch Picks

I had the summer blues today, but only the good kind--blue sky, blue ocean, cool blue picks from the Hutch for a hot San Francisco day (that's mid-80's around here). Above, a small hobnail vase $22.

Royal blue and aqua enamel pin $6.

A sweet embroidered tablecloth 64" x 50" $45.

Pickled Hutch Picks

Yesterday I went to the Pickled Hutch. It's so nice going there now. I didn't think I'd be especially happy about driving the few 10 minutes to the new shop verses walking down the street two blocks to the old shop, but I actually love it. The drive is so pretty. At first it's just regular old highway driving, but just a few minutes before you reach the exit, you go up a big hill, and once you reach the top, you can see the ocean and beautiful shoreline to your right and rolling green hills dotted with houses to the left. And then of course when I get there, I find treasures! It's a nice outing. Here are my picks this week.

Old white metal toolbox. $32.

Wood "ribbon" mirror. I think this mirror is so cute and would be perfect for a little girl's room, above a dressing table or dresser. It's $42. Someone put it on hold after I took the picture, though, so it may be gone now!

Candle holder. $22.

While I was there, Lisa went to Tranquilitea down the street and picked up these petifores. Aren't they pretty? Here they are before . . .

And after! We ate all of them! Wow, they were good. Thanks Lisa!

Pickled Hutch Picks

I've gotten really behind in posting my Pickled Hutch picks. Lisa's only a short drive away at the new location, but I haven't taken the time to go over there but once since the grand opening a few weeks ago. I did go last week, though. The shop looks fresh with lot of new things. Here are my picks this week.

This is an old Matel plane. I'd love to get it for my nephews! $75

Set of 3 nesting tables. $75

Shabby shelf / doorknob coat rack $125
